A small selection of my wood fired work is shown here to give you an idea of what kind of domestic ware I am producing at the moment. Currently my stock is low as most of last year's work has been sold. Over the warmer Summer months I make my work ready to start firing around April and that will be available later in the year.

The works shown below are not for sale at this point in time but you can find a small selection of my work for sale at 'Fire and Flood' Store at Wentworth Falls NSWhttps://www.instagram.com/fireandflood.store/p/DFJlQEIzQwE/

You can read more about them here https://landandhoney.com.au/blogs/fire-and-flood/fire-and-flood

I fire in my Bourry Box Kiln, "Sandy-Lucinda", during the winter months so more work will emerge during our cooler Australian Autumn/ Winter/Spring seasons. Firings last up to 3 days and the process is long and tiring and uses a lot of wood. In my eyes, the outcome is well worth the magic that the fire and ash add to the work. Every piece is unique as the wood kiln unpredicabley creates its own colours and textures to my glazes. At the moment I tend not to make commission work for this reason, I can make a form that is planned but I can't know for sure where the ash will fall and how the clay will react to the fierce environment. There are many losses and many treasures in each firing but until the kiln is opened I don't know what I am able to offer customers.

Remember that wood fired work is different to electric fired work. Electric kilns can be set on a firing schedule and then left while you go about your day doing other things. Firing with wood needs constant stoking and carful direction of what the fire is doing in order to reach temps of 1300˚C-1400˚C. Different wood creates different ash and therefore different colours. All these things are monitored by the wood fire potter as they keep careful watch over the whole firing process. These things mean the cost of making wood fired work is often higher than most electric fired work, keep this in mind when you are looking at ceramics next.

All my domestic ware is food safe and dishwasher friendly.
